Season 1 had the worst, anti-climactic ending. What a waste of goodwill (and two hours)! Season 2... Really, WTF was that?!? I was actually very happy when they decided NOT to produce a lot of new episodes after the Writer's Strike. (That way they couldn't blame Season Two's extreme lack of quality on the Writer's Strike!) Apparently momentarily finished with mining the Marvel stock for character rip-offs, Season Three promises this "Black Canary" rip-off and a female Speedster/Flash clone? And this Speedster is attempting to stop Hiro from going on ANOTHER quest?!? Again, does anybody really care? This schlocky, ultra-derivative show SUCKS! If anything, the producers ought to be run out of town for their criminal MISUSE of Kristen Bell last year. If we're all lucky, Season 3 will be the last.

GAH. WHY DO YOU KEEP WATCHING IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE SHOW? It is not rocket science, it is not brain surgery, if you do not like something, then don't watch it. Don't think about it, don't give it any amount of time whatsoever, because you could put that time to tremendous use. Take that hour a week when you watch it, and get laid... or get drunk... or book a trip. Then add up all the hours you spend bitching about it, and go socialise with people. Your life will improve immediately, and so will ours by proxy because we won't have to put up with the most annoying of trends, namely 'The hater who hates but never stops watching.'

As much as folks piledrove that plot 5 miles into the ground, it was Shakespeare compared to Maya and Alejandro.

Heroes is on probation with me, and I'm taking a wait-and-see approach with S3. I won't be getting the S2 blu-ray, as the extras do not rise to the level of a buy with me, considering just how the show damaged itself. If they kill off Kristen Bell's Elle, then that's a dealbreaker for me. Bye bye, DVR season pass. Sylar turning GOOD?, if only for a while? Teaming up with HRG? The bounds of credulity look like they're going to be expanded as never before with FuturePeter! and FutureClaire! (tm, me) and Mama Petrelli becoming a series regular...

After the Season One Finale, and Season Two
by ZeroCorpse
Jul 8th, 2008
10:57:19 AM
I think I speak for most of the geek community when I say "FUCK HEROES."

Seriously, how could they fuck it up so badly? The Season One finale was the stuff of legendary FAIL. The bulk of Season Two was worthless. The Sylar storyline went nowhere. The Latino Wonder Twins absolutely sucked (and I mean no disrespect to the actors, because they were fine-- It was the script that sucked). Further episodes just got worse and worse with little pay-off.

I'm in no hurry to watch Heroes again. If I accidentally catch it, then maybe I'll watch it. But as far as I'm concerned, Heroes fell apart at the finale of Season One, and never recovered.

to last me 3 or 4 lifetimes. Her Maya is the successor to Kim Bauer as TV's most grating, annoying character, and there's not even a competition for second place. Too bad Kring didn't pull the trigger and kill both the wonder twins off, like Lost did with Nikki and Paolo. Lost in that case did the best thing for a storyline that went nowheres. Heroes did the next-best thing.

That's about my assessment as well. S1 got so many things right I was giddy we might actually have a competent superhero treatment on a TV show. Then the lackluster finale. OK, they can recover with the new season.

Nope - again, they had sprinkling of good ideas, but the best S2 EP's were never as good as even of the only moderately decent S1 shows. There was so much potential wasted (and so many things hinted at that went nowhere). I think everyone disliked the twins, wanted more clarification with the Sylar captor/escape, etc., and it just never happened. I want to be an apologist and blame it on the writer's strike (which certainly had some effect), but seeing the downward spiral from the last few S1 EP's, S2 wasn't completely shocking.

I really hope they make some adjustments, get the writers in gear, don't have any logistics issues to blame and make the show good this season.

Hopefully he's a better actor than that git that played D.L.

The actor that plays D.L. and Greg Grunberg or w/e are two of the worst actors on that show. Oh, and that Milo Ventajamgimailals also sucks. Tries and fails to look like a badass.

as his power gets stronger the realization will set in that at some point that any vocal sounds he makes will destroy something so he has to learn how to keep his trap shut unless needed. That's why the character is a male because a female could never learn to keep her trap shut, hence, we're all doomed. What a GREAT tragic character they have there.

HEROES is yet another case of good concepts executed poorly.

Season 1 built up to something great and epic but then fizzled out. Season 2 had a lot of potential and then just sort of ended without fully exploring the best angles (and also squandered a lot of time on secondary stories that went nowhere).

I still like the show, but its sloppy execution and waste of good ideas ensures that it's far from being on my list of favorites. I have to imagine that a lot of the fanfic for this show exceeds what ends up onscreen. In terms of how its potential is being exploited, HEROES is a bit like a goldmine staffed with one-armed blind men. Sad.

The storyline where Elle could've been the Biggest Bad of S3...
by Pennsy
Jul 8th, 2008
02:31:26 PM
Egged on by Noah 'HRG' Bennett, Elle digs deeper into her past to try and find out exactly how bad Midas Bob f'd her childhood up. Since the Villains arc is 13 episodes, wrap up the Elle/Bob storyline in maybe 2 eps, tops. She find out something ghastly, something so off-the-chain bad she not only confronts Bob, she fries h7is ass.

Then Elle, still in the throes of blind, animal rage, goes directly to Primatech Paper Company, crispy-critters any and everyone who gets in her way and takes over the complex. Taking over The Company. Elle soon discovers Level 5, and the 'dozen Sylars' that are cooped up there. She presents them with a get out of jail free card and unleashes them on the world. All 12 under Elle's control. All 12 ready to do *her* bidding. Kinda like Dark Willow from season 6 of Buffy to the thousandth power. You wouldn't need even one FutureInsertCharacterNameHere. Elle could find out where her lover Adam Monroe is and dig him out of his grave; and woos Parkman to the dark side for good measure.

With this scenario, you could reasonably have Sylar and the other Heroes call a temporary truce while they fight an evil greater, perhaps than all of them put together. It would be a terrific acting showcase for Bell to be completely, utterly, scene-chewingly badass.

But that's relegated to what might have been-ville.

And questioning a rapper's "acting talent" is not racism, you retared fuck. Did he say that Common sucks because he's black, or is that what your antagonizing mind came up with just so you could cry racism? I hate idiots like you that can milk racism out of anything. Pennsy has an insane fanboy crush on Bell. Who is talented and did a great job on Veronica Mars AND Forgetting Sarah Marshall. But who is NOT that awesome as Elle. In fact, Elle is more yawn-inducing than the Wondertwins precisely because crazed fanboys like Pennsy threw 8 tons of baggage on the character before she even set foot on screen. All because she's being played by a particular actress. Who frankly phoned that shit in. I admit, she wasn't given a lot to work with story-wise, but the onus is not all on the writers. She needs to accept partial responsibility. I say GOOD FOR YOU to Bell for requesting a scale back of the character.

You might not agree with my statement, but you really don't think it makes any sense? It seems pretty logical to me. Follow the steps if you can. You, IAmJack'sUserID, claim that BlackJackBauer lacks confidence and has to blame everyone else for this lack. You also claim that you hate his "type", a "retared fuck" and a "jackass", because he "blames everything on racism". Nowhere in there do you state, "I, too, am a retared fuck and a jackass", so I have to assume you think you are in some way superior to him. Tell me honestly that you think you're a dick. If you acknoweldge that you're as big an asshole as you claim BJB to be, then my accusation holds no water. See? Pretty simple. Now which of us is an idiot? Oh, right, I am. And nowhere on any talkback whatsoever have I seen a TB'er disagree with someone and then add in the little waiver that he too is being an asshole. So admitting that somehow validates the argument being made? You might want to start contacting news outlets about that nugget of wisdom you've discovered, because it could forever change the way arguments are made from now on. Way to go for that Nobel, man!

But see, you're the one disagreeing with me and nowhere have I seen you admit to being an asshole. So perhaps you should not only perpetuate this brilliant idea but actually start this trend. I'll be waiting.

Jeez, your an idiot Mr. Zeddemore. Before you comment on someone else's post you should really ATTEMPT TO READ IT FIRST... and if that's too much to ask HAVE SOMEONE READ IT TO YOU. I watched the first season and loved how the earlier episodes were graphic-- way off the charts visually. The writing was so-so and derivative. Then newness wore off and the show started to slide in quality. Just when I thought, "No more!" they would do something great to bring me back. I went into Season Two with a LOT of trepidation that it would be the same and got rewarded with WORSE... and guess what... I STOPPED watching BEFORE the end of strike truncated season!! Betcha didn't SEE that coming, did you-- jerkoff? Yeah, I STOPPED watching BEFORE the season ended. But that didn't mean I stopped READING magazines or Daily Variety or the internet or that I had FRIENDS (of which I have plenty, thank you) who would INSIST on telling me what happened even if I said I didn't want to hear. So why did I post to this talkback? Because I initially liked the show and was disappointed to see that they looked to be going down some of the same well worn roads in Season Three-- problem areas that plagued Seasons One and Two. YOUR lack of knowledge and maturity really showed when you ATTACKED me (an anonymous poster) for some opinions. (Ironically, dozens of other posters seemed to AGREE with me. You'd know that if, as I wrote above, you could READ.) You then further buried yourself deep in the your own shit pile when you decided to launch a lame attack on my life and my habits. I DON'T KNOW YOU ASSWIPE... and EVEN IF I DID, I WOULDN'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT ME OR MY OPINIONS... SO GET OVER YOURSELF. You fungal rots that use the internet to HIDE behind your caustic, silly words... YOU SUCK. I noticed a few inches below my post that you reacted FAVORABLY to someone else's post. Hey NUMBNUTS... Guess what? We don't need a HALL MONITOR here... and if we did, we would NOT elect the asshole with the OVERBLOWN SENSE THAT HIS IDEAS OR OPINIONS ARE ANY BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE'S IDEAS OR OPINIONS. Oh-- and why did it take me almost a day to return your pissy volley? Because I do have a life you nitwit and even if I didn't-- I wouldn't spend my day attempting to make strangers feel bad with what free time I did have. Kring and his cohorts produce HEROES for public consumption. They're big enough to take my anonymous internet criticism, I assure you. But who knows, if enough of us post like I did about Season Two... maybe some difference will be made and the show might get a little bit better in Season 3. Probably not but who knows? I can guarantee your out of line attack on me will MOST DEFINITELY NOT help the show you apparently are still watching. (See, I wrote "apparently" because I have no idea if you are still watching HEROES or not.) In the end, the thing I like BEST about posters like you: One of these days, emboldened by your worthless internet attacks, you'll take your perceived "BADASS PERSONA" out to the street-- and somebody will promptly hand you your head you on a platter. Oh, how I wish that it could be me!

u got me all figured out eh? typical shit. about common, herc had snickered about "rappers" fucking up projects and it was just oozing with sacrasm about common, gangsta rap etc, when common is NO WHERE NEAR THAT. He sounds like one of those corny news anchors who talks about rap, or the the ones who talked about the "obama terrorist fist jab". its racial politics, plain and simple. herc has a bias against blacks, ive seen him make off hand remarks time and time again and its not just a coincidence. the fatman knows what he is doing. LOL you are probaly herc, the only one here to defend him.
Let's try this again, Jack.

See, I started my original reply by asking, to paraphrase: "Hey, what does BJB's position on Herc's bigotry have to do with BJB's confidence? And where might you be getting the idea that BJB blames racism for all of his problems?" Questions you never really answered, but whatever. You were extrapolating. And you were being unnecessarily personal and vitriolic to boot. Which to me equals idiot. A word you used to describe BJB. I was merely pointing out that you were the pot calling the kettle black (hey, word play!) and that the rest of us who don't want to read race-baiting (a fair enough accusation on your part) NOR vitriolic hypocrisy (that'd be you) would be happy if the two of you went off into a corner and slugged it out on your own. And you're making my point for me, thanks for catching up. It's rare for someone, particularly a TBer like you who obviously loves tossing invective around, to believe that he is in any way being just as "stupid" or "racist" or "liberal" or "conservative" or WHATEVER as the subject of his scorn. Are we clear? I don't know why I'm asking since the most likely response will be a hilariously childish, "No, and you're dumb." Or maybe another delightfully meaningless made-up comparison. Like, "Necgray, I was watching scrambled Japanese porn and it made more sense than you."

I got something figured out about you. You like to accuse other people of bias but you sure do love that "fat" word, don't you? I think you're encouraging black on fat violence. You and JacksID can go yell at each other and call each other names by the monkey bars on the playground after school, how does that sound? And for the record, BJB, 95% of ALL musician-actors are of questionable quality. Common and DMX can make a movie with Britney Spears and the Spice Girls and you can go shell out $10 to watch them all "act".

There's a newer promo on NBC.com which strongly suggests Sylar is, in fact, Mama Petrelli's adopted son (!!). I think we're all in agreement that this is a make-or-break season for the show. They've gotta go balls to the wall from the first minute of the first episode and brakes be damned.

I hope that suggestion proves out as I've been wondering if they'll ever get around to explaining the connection between these people. Sylar seemed out of place, but if he's got a genetic link to the "Golden Age" Heroes group, that would help connect him. And sorry about the lengthy off-topic diatribe. It's been that kind of day for me, and as Capt. Dudley says in L.A. Confidential: "It's best to stay away from a man when his blood is up."

90% of fat people are fat because they are lazy listless fat asses. i have no sympathy for them. fat arrogant americans. just look at texas, the biggest waistline with the most idiots. and the thing is, Herc pointed out RAPPER like it was a disease and the rapper was gonna talk in ebonics and be the "thug" of the movie...when common is the furthest thing from a fast talking thug rapper. everything about herc's sarcastic post was just horrible. on top of that, he lets the racism build up in threads when people say nigger this nigger that, but if someone says something about jews he is QUICK to delete the response. fuck that fat fucker.

BJB, where might you have gotten that percentage? Oh, right, you made that shit up. Way to create baseless statistics. And Texas has the most idiots. Oh, wait, are you generalizing Texans based on no personal experience of your own? Shock and surprise! But damn you Herc for generalizing Common. What a biased jerk. And I hate to inform you, but a tone-deaf white grandmother is technically the furthest thing from Common. AND though I agree it's wrong to assume that Common will play a "thug" and speak in ebonics, you can't deny that most rappers play ebonic-speaking thugs in film. Is that Herc's fault? No, it isn't. Maybe if we didn't have a Blockbuster shelf full of Direct-to-DVD DMX shit films it wouldn't be so easy to generalize.

Okay..let's relax with the allegations of Herc's supposed racist inclinations. I think the proper focus should be placed on his "dorkist" leanings. I mean come on, why even go there with bold type headlines about whether someone is black, white, chartreuse, etc.? Who gives a crap? Herc is sophisticated enough to know that such story titles often result in bringing the fringe folk out of the louse-infested woodwork. This is what he wants; an orgy of idiots coming out and clamoring about race and contradicting themselves left and right. Racism on Herc's part? Not necessarily. Dorkism? Most definitely.

Bad-ass persona? Um, no. I'm a geek. A geek whose drinking diet coke with citrus and posting here. I write what amounts to Daredevil fan-fiction online. My sole point was that, if you hated Heroes, don't watch it. As you have, I don't understand the venom you're spouting. And my post wasn't intended maliciously, it was just me wondering why someone who disliked the show would keep up with it at all. If you took that as a slight on you, I apologise. It was merely me being baffled that - quite a few -people hate the show hardcore style, yet can't stop watching... seemingly just to have something to complain about. It'd be like me watching Stargate... or Stargate Atlantis (which bore me to tears) just to post about them. I don't watch them, I don't discuss them, because there's far cooler things to do. Heroes is a show I watch, and like (even if I do see the flaws... Maya didn't bother me too much, but she could have been written a Helluva lot better), so I talk about it with like minded people. If the show got to the point where I hated it, I'd walk away.

Truth be told - Heroes suffers from having a great premise which whooped fans into a frenzy. Any other show written like this would have been praised through the roof...but because expectations were high, ol Timmy could never satisfy. I thought the show entertained...good characters...some good ideas...some good subplots and I look forward to series 3. Haters - don't watch and don't comment. Your services no longer required.

i'll be the first to admit that heroes fell apart with season 1's finale and other than momentary flashes of coolness, season 2 was absolutely pathetic. still, i'm excited to watch this again and i'll give it another shot for 2 reasons, 1. there is barely anything else on network TV worth watching, and 2. it seems like the writers have learned from their mistakes and listened to what the fans want to see. season 3 has a shot to be very cool, and all you haters will come crawling back if it is. so just bit your lip and let's give it an episode or 2 to get back on track.

AICN really needs to clean this title up. If the character was a white male, would the title have been "They hired an White American Guy"? I seriously doubt it and the title should be changed. I'm getting tired of people making note of someone's color and it is usually always about black americans. You have a vid posted, so why state the obvious when everyone will see that this character is black? Also, there is only one race, and it is called human. We have different ethnic groups, but we are all of the same race. We have the same biological makeup and we can mix with one another, not to mention, we can save each other's lives with our organs. Enough is enough, AICN should step up and fix this crap, or they allowed this to stir up stuff in the community.

Black Canary is a white (European American?) woman. She has crazy screaming abilities. Heroes has taken this ability and the show has cast a black (African American? Carribean American?)man to play a role SIMILAR to that of the Canary. Thats it. There is nothing racist in it. Don't be paranoid. Don't be dumb. Just read it for what it is: a headline telling us that a man-whose-ethnicity-may-come-e ither-from-africa-or-the-carri bean-or-australia-since-scient ists-have-now-found-that-the-f irst-man-came-from-australia-a nd-is-american-by-citizenship has been hired to play a role similar to that of the black canary. Who is a woman. And who is White - caucasion - European- whatever is politically correct that I dont upset the scared nazi skinheads amongst you. The irony is he acknowledges that the show rips off comic characters, but then spins it by changing race and sex. Thats it. Get a life. Get a job. Get an education.

I was just being a dick. In all seriously, though, I just want the whole thing to be shorter, tighter, more streamlined. I've realized, over the years, that I don't really like the tv show format; it takes a simple, cool, exiting premise, and stretches it out too long to the point where we have to suffer through filler and wank to get to the goods. Both HEROES and LOST could be told in 6 (maybe as much as 12, but no more) solid episodes told in the cable tv format; the whole 26 episode long multiple season thing, where there are only like 5 or 6 episodes really worth watching in any given season, is tiresome and more than a little overkill-y. I don't need to distract myself that much from life, I just want to watch good stories and hopefully get some inspiration or entertainment from them.

Lost and Heroes. Not in the same league. Not even the same game. Lost >>>>>> Heroes, and I really liked Heroes S1. But it's still vastly inferior to Lost. I think Lost does function better on a shorter schedule, but they would definitely need the high end 12. Season 4 was 14 and they wanted another two at least to give us backstory on the freighter characters.

And it was only kicked to the curb by a lot of fans because of the scheduling fiasco. They aired the first 6 episodes during the normal premiere weeks, then took a 3 month hiatus. During those 3 months the crossover Lost/Heroes fans naturally preferred Heroes. Because they were actually getting episodes. It didn't help that the first six episodes of Lost S3 were Kate-Jack-Sawyer heavy, a triangle that some Lost fans just don't like or care about. It also didn't help that the showrunners tried to introduce characters that nobody cared about (bye-bye Nikki and Paulo). If watched consecutively, Season 3 of Lost is absolutely amazing. And vastly superior to Heroes Season 1. Which is pretty good, but doesn't hold a candle. And what exactly is "meat"? In context, it looks like you mean that Heroes delivered on mysteries that it set up. Well, I'd say revealing who the Others are is a spicy meat-a-ball. Revealing how John Locke ended up in a wheelchair? Mmm, slow-roasted baby-back ribs. Paying off the build-up of Desmond's visions about Charlie? Oh man, it's falling off the bone! Let's not forget, too, that Lost was in its third season and Heroes was in its first. The glow of youth is always alluring...

It's saying he sucks because he goddamn sucks! I've seen 4 movies with this fucker in it (Smokin' Aces, American Gangster, Street Kings, Wanted) over the past 2 years and he's absolutely gawd-awful in all of those roles with the exact same monotone, blank-eyed, zero emoting performance each time. He's simply a bad, period. I'm pissed he's in the Terminator series now too is because he goddamn sucks! Get a real actor fer crissakes! Black actor who pops up in alot of movies, and the movies suck but he's good in it, is Terry Crews. He rules. All of the roles that go to Common, give 'em to Crews.

They were always meant to eventually bite it, but not in such swift fashion. The producers wanted to slowly introduce them into the main cast and then eventually have them go out in pretty much the same way they did in their episode. Given the negative fan reaction to the characters, they just sped up the time frame of their demise. How much further would the characters have gone and how much would they have been involved in the freighter folk storyline of Season 4 is not really known.
