But the producer's are pretty much trying to kill the unions here. It's a tricky one. Fingers crossed they don't, because it'll hurt the whole industry.

I totally see what you are saying, but those guys represent significantly less than one percent of working actors. But, at the same time, nobody gets into acting because it's secure work . It's kind of a privelege, so...

to strike at a time when no one can afford gas? I bet they'd just do themselves more damage. The normal average working actor, I mean.

cuz i love watching actors and actresses take it up the ass...anal porn is the best...and this deal sucks...the wga was hoping that both sag and aftra would turn down the shit they accepted so that they would have stronger bargaining power in 3 years...aint gonna happen...the economy sux and everyone is afraid of being unemployed...so keep producing shit for people to watch...thank you...oh, and can someone as viacom, if the internet aint worth shit, why are they suing google over using copyright material, and looking for users viewing preferences...what a load of shite

have you noticed that viewing over the air, satellite and cable have been diminishing over the years, while kids have turned to their ipods, laptops, etc in getting their daily dose? 5-10 years, most viewing will be done though broadband...and you wont get a nickel of that...ive seen the studios calculations...its the same shit they pull with grosses...they insist that they dont make a nickel with online viewing...so why sell ad time? why sue over copyright infringement...why did viacom get a court order to prove that viewing of copyright material is greater than homemade? why dont you guys hold off until viacom wins the lawsuit, and then say, hey...there is a fucking audience afterall...SHOW ME THE MONEY, YOU FAT, UNTALENTED, WHOREMONGERING FUCKS

As much as I love this site, posts like this just kill me. If anyone just actually takes the time out to do any amount of research, they would have read that the leaders at SAG have said that striking is NOT an option right now. As a matter of fact, they are telling everyone to stop spreading this strike nonsense. They are not pulling a writers guide here. They will continue to negotiate without a contract until they can come to some deal. Is a strike possible at some point? I'm sure it is, just not tomorrow or the next day. They are well aware the economy sucks and people can't afford gas and food right now. No one's striking. At least not yet.

Not every actor is rich
by Bumpasses Dawg

Although a good number of the producers are! It all comes down to new media, and the producers want it for free. As a working actor who eats a lot more hamburger helper than lobster and caviar, I'd have to say people who think all actors are rich are fucking idiots. That being said, I hope the AFTRA contract passes. I do NOT want a strike. The top 1% of actors in Hollywood may be able to afford going without work, but people who need to pay bills each month cannot. By the way, those of you who think that industry and the corporations would share the wealth made on the backs of the workers WITH the workers without a union are ignorant jackwads.
I hope they strike...

If the producers continue to try and squeeze and squash all the unions no one will be able to work in los angeles and the studio system will implode. While that will probably lead to better films it will lead to much less work and forget about seeing big summer blockbusters. Without any unions the pay rates for normal people would be way out of wack. I'm in a union and without it there is no way I could afford to just get by in los angeles. Plus it's the only way for most people to get health care in any branch of the entertainment industry.

It'll probably go like this. The contract passes in a landslide victory, SAG makes their announcement on Thursday whether or not they accept the "best and final offer." What happens next is anyone's guess because SAG's leadership has not been behaving wisely. Hopefully they'll take the deal, ditch Rosenberg, and get professionals to handle their deal next time and arrange for some unity amongst the guilds as well. This crap has cost me enough work as it is.
