24 and Heroes all have been off the air a standard season. 24 airs without commercial repeats so there's always going to be a 28 week break, and you're getting a 2 hour movie in November anyway...And nobody that makes BSG has anything to do with the schedule. The only one being a dick is you.

Also, I wasn't specifically talking about the creators of BSG. It's the Scifi channel that really screwed the show over...

most all of HBO's shows have longer breaks and usually shorter seasons. Lost seems to benefit from the odd schedule as well. Dr. Who is practically taking an entire year off while they are making a number of big changes that should benefit that show tremendously. I'll watch a show I like no matter when it is on. I'd much rather watch the Extras series finale movie than a season worth of According to Jim that airs like clockwork on ABC. I'd rather a show like Heroes get its shit together for as long as it takes to put the appropriate stories together, to get the casting right, to make sure they either build sets or find locations that work (a huge problem in season 2) and leave time for fitting effects to fit with and enhance the story (see season 1 finale).

Since when is a standard season over a year? If you care to educate yourself, you'll see that 24 typically airs from January to May, and the last episode aired in May...of last year.

Heroes, while not guilty of the same scheduling snafus, is just as guilty of sloppy writing as the last season of 24 as far as Season 2. It's very bad when a show plummets in quality so drastically after only it's 1st season.

I don't think holding shows accountable for quality is being a dick, or at least it isn't as dickish as you for busting on a guy for his legitimate opinion.

Looks like it had a budget of about $3. They don't even show Nathan flying anymore. We get a POV shot of feet flying towards the ground, and then we see them waist up "hit" the ground. Awful. And the compound that housed the virus looked like it too was suffering from budget problems. I think I counted maybe 3 guards, and they all seemed to be fresh from redshirt training.

Really good(even great)the first 21 episodes and garbage pretty much ever since that season one finale. Some parts of episodes of season 2 were good, but never was there a good or great episode.

What would I like to see? Kill Micah(for real kill too, no magic Claire blood.) That kid is an awful actor. I cringe whenever he has a line and it's not just the actor, the character is awful too. Killing him would show that main characters can die and give a revenge driven Jessica something to do.

If I could. The story of actually getting her back on the show was slightly longer than Iran jerking around the West on its nuke program. Consider:

1. On 2/27, Mike Ausiello of TVGuide (back then) reports she's not under contract for season 3;

2. Bell lands the lead role for 'When in Rome';

3. Negotiations drag on for ONE THIRD OF A YEAR with no resolution as to even IF she'd be back on Heroes;

4. People.com confirms on July 15 that Bell is finally inked to a contract - for just 5 episodes.

All throughout this process, K-Bell wanted to come back to the show. But when push came to shove, it seems the feeling wasn't mutual enough with management. She pretty much salvaged season 2 for me, and I think a few others here. Offer her a blank check if you have to, but don't let her walk away after that short a time.

And don't even get me started on her being left off the Heroes ComicCon panel.

And that they won't use the inspiration well. Nolan's Batman universe sticks with an as realistic as possible approach to depicting Batman. Dazzler seems a kick-ass good gal...or a Sylar-esque villain

If turned to the dark side. From Wikipedia: “The field operates in a similar fashion as the process that creates a laser and apparently has the same efficiency as a laser (99.9%). The released energy is far greater than the incoming kinetic energy and therefore must involve another, unknown energy source as well. Left undirected, Dazzler's light will radiate from her body in all directions, producing regular flashes of white light. By conscious control over the light she produces, she can control its direction, frequency, amplitude and duration.

“Apparently, Dazzler must consciously or subconsciously will the light to leave her body. Otherwise, light would "leak" from her at all times, even when she was asleep or unconscious. Dazzler can produce numerous effects with the light she converts from sonic vibrations. She can simply cause a bright glow all about her body. She can create very simple patterns out of rays of light like circles, squares, triangles, and stars, or even certain combinations of patterns which produce trance-like effects in her targets. She can also make a shrouding fog consisting of pure light. With effort, she can even create holograms of human beings and other three-dimensional beings and objects. She can create a pulse of light on the order of several thousand watts of power, which temporarily blinds people with its brilliance. She can create a chaotic cascade of sparkling lights and colors that severely upsets other people's equilibrium, or a pulsating strobe-light effect. By concentrating, Dazzler can generate a coherent beam of light, approximating a laser beam, with which she can cut through virtually anything.

“Her training with the X-Men, especially with Cyclops, has taught her how to produce such laser-like beams with much less effort than it previously required of her. She generally directs the laser from a single finger when she requires precision in its use, since pointing aids her in defining its direction. However, she can also direct laser blasts from both hands at once when she wishes, as well as from her eyes, for example, to demolish a large structure. She most often uses her hands for directing her light effects, but she could also use other parts of her body.

“Since studying with the X-Men, she has become adept at directing her blinding strobe light blast from her eyes. Dazzler has also learned how to create a protective force field about herself with laser light that can deflect or vaporize oncoming projectiles. The most powerful manifestation of her abilities is a concentrated beam of solid photons she usually fires from her right index finger. The beam is extremely powerful and as a consequence uses a great deal of her energy reserves. She has since learned how to produce these blasts without draining herself, while still providing them with considerable power. She has also recently shown the ability to form her photon emissions into solid constructs, such as swords and staffs. Dazzler's potential to convert sound to light is unlimited. Curiously, she cannot use her own unamplified voice as a source of sound for her conversion abilities. Dazzler's body, especially her eyes, shields itself against any injurious effects of her light conversion abilities and against those of bright lights in general. Her ability to convert sound also protects her from being deafened by loud noises.

“Alison's body can store light energy for future discharge on occasional instances of extreme duress. She has been shown to create a "null space" of sound in a certain radius of her person, as a result of "pulling" the sound in her area to her person, to either protect a crowd of people or to supercharge her power reserves...she occasionally wears a pair of roller blades which magnetically adhere to her boots; she can use the skates to move at high speed.”

Nice.

Linderman - they've all died, and save for flashbacks have stayed dead. So I don't get this 'the dead don't stay dead' logic. Sure some characters do come back, but it's hardly like every single character has died and been ressurected.

It's one of comics gimmicks. The dead don't stay dead.

If they want them to...they could come back.

Every single one of them.

Yes, but unless they actually physically come back from the dead (i.e. not in a flashback, hallucination, vision or nightmare), it doesn't count as a ressurection.

K Bell is in episode 2 per above. So the question is, will she be in the next immediate one, the aftermath of the breakout, and then the tailend of the season, or will there be sporadic 'K-bell helpings' thrown around during the season?

The seemingly agreed number of episodes this season with KB as a guest star, from various media outlets, is 5. By any measure, from any angle, it's just not enough. What's done is done, though. Although I do reserve the right to create WeWantMoreElle.com if it looks like she'll be a can to Sylar's can opener. :|

PS3 vs Wii seemed out of place, but the point I was trying to make is that fanboy loyalty just makes no sense to me. What's the point of hoping for the demise of another show. Did Heroes/Lost showrunners tell you to pick a side?

The talkbacks here are a marvellous indication...

..of the decreased lack of faith in this show. I remember reading those talkbacks in the first season, long before I had a handle here, and they were immense! People were posting on them almost every other minute, they stretched out to hundreds of posts, and there would be people speculating what would happen next; what certain things meant and how very much they were enjoying the show.

Here in the third season, the talkbacks are probably 10% of the size which they once were and attract very little attention. It's extremely sad to see such a thing but unfortunately justified in view of the decreasing quality.

My ratings for Heroes would go:

First half of the first season - four carrots

Second half of the first season - three carrots

Second season - two carrots

whoops...

I was going to say that what's stopping them from bring fresh talent that know how to write episodes? I have high hopes for season 3 but imagine how much better this series would be if instead of Tim Kring or Jeph Loeb as producers/writers They brought back (which would be impossible now because of pushing daisies) Bryan Fuller and Brought in Brian K. Vaughn (which is another wish that could go unfulfilled due to LOST and other big stuff he's working on)

Even if the second season was incomplete, the episodes leading up to the midseason finale were crap. You're defending the second season harder than Kring, who already admitted it wasn't a good season.

It was good. Granted that's my POV and based on the fact that I was happy with the slow-burn (and the S1 finale), but 2x09? 2x10? Those are two of the best Heroes eps. Not saying that they're as good as 1x17 or 1x20, but they were excellent eps. And yeah, they had problems, but no more than S1 did... or did you chaps forget Niki, DL and Micah being absent from the arc till 1x21... or Hiro's sword quest... or how the early S1 eps were patchy?

I've been crying for Paul Dini for a year now do a search and in almost every Heros talkback I've said bring in Dini

I'd love to see him as the main showrunner with McCorkle and Shonney get out of their deal with Paramount/Nick (they're the guys that did Kim Possible and Sky High for Disney) to handle all of Claire and/or Hiro's stuff

Well anyway... the new episode was not good.

They showed the last online episode which of course was complete garbage. So horribly written. But alright,

the first problem with the season is the opposite problem with last season. Whereas 2 moved too slow, this is moving way too fast. Any sort of development of characters and story went so quickly it just seemed stupid and cheesy.

Another problem, again I guess related to the speed of the pace, was the acting. If you rush everything, you give the actors shitty lines, and they WILL say those lines as good as they can get, which equals garbage. The only really good line was Sylar's eating brain's comment.

Another obvious mistake was bringing back Ali Larter, and even Nathan Patrelli. If no one dies, there is absolutely NO fear and no dread.

It was retarded of future-Peter to put present-Peter in a cell next to Claire's dad, but I guess that will lead to them breaking out. Besides, if Peter was so powerful, why couldn't he just use his powers to escape?

What else... Oh, the Hiro stuff in the office sucked balls. How lame do you have to get: "I don't want to just sit here and wait for my destiny!" *knock on door* Someone hands Hiro a package. "He says this package is a message from my father, and it is my destiny!"

I also was offended that the ENTIRE panel was one big commercial for Heroes as opposed to being an actual panel where we get to actually talk to them, but I guess the elevator can be blamed for that...

Also the Mohinder and Maya stuff. Their artificially manifested romance. Their horrible back and forths. Maya is such a terrible character, still. Maybe it's just the writing...

Oh, and when Hiro meets the Flash-Girl, the fact that AGAIN he just gets punched in the face and meanders off, when we just spent an entire season with him in the past learning to become a samurai, you'd think he'd learn a thing or two about fighting. At least when someone says "you're going to be on the floor" You'd think he'd realize that he's about to get his dumb-ass knocked out. Which is exactly what happened. I mean, fucking hell.

What is lame about the Mohinder plot is that he really gets it so easily. "Oh my god, I've magically figured out how to give everyone powers after basically no time spent on trial and error. How cool will it be to have telepathy or super-strength or whatever!" "Don't you realize there are many evil people and powers out there, essay??" "Well I'll spend a brief second debating whether to throw the syringe into the sea!" Of course, he doesn't, and injects himself, and then some muggers come and try to take his money and his watch while Mohinder's on the ground recovering from the shock. And suddenly he has super-strength. I think it would have been much more interesting if he had some evil power just like Maya predicted he would get. That way there could be some conflict for him, wondering just what to do with the drug. But yeah, I didn't think it played well at all, and the special effect of him throwing one of the muggers was pretty poor. I guess the fact the he faces zero conflict over the potential for good for the drug that will lead to future Ando and many others getting powers. And I can only assume that Nathan Petrelli, with the whole "Angel" thing, will see this as a threat and want to fight it. How can they be the chosen ones if everyone can have a power? Jeez, I can already see the horrible direction this season is going to take.

And Hiro's story line is just so damn absurd. Hiro just got lectured by his father about not playing God all the time, and what does he do? Opens the safe, just like his father told him not to, and decides that he can't go to the past to stop himself from opening the case, but he can go to the future where we see yet ANOTHER apocalyptic future.

I'm suddenly interested...

the show is there, but you can easily tell that Kring has no real experience in comic books and is relaying on Loeb who is inconsistent as a writer, for every The Long Halloween there is some Batman/Superman crossover that sucks

imagine, if you will, Dini as the head showrunner, Geoff Johns on Peter's story, and the Kim Possible/Sky High guys on Hiro's and Simone on Claire's (or vice versa) with an F/X length season (12 or so eps, one storyline)

Seriously, the season hasn't even started yet and like 5 of the guys above me are already whining and bitching and complaining...and they havent even seen any footage yet! They don't even know what's going to happen and already say it sucks. I thought S1 was pretty awesome, except for that awful Season 1 finale. Season 2 was garbage with some exciting moments. But zero suspense. I want Season 3 to be good, but who knows? Brian Fuller should come back b/c Loeb and Kring have no idea what they're doing. And the writers don't either. BTW, Sylar isnt even the villain this season. If you knew anything about the show and read the spoilers, he actually becomes the GOOD GUY. So please do all of us a favor, stop whining and just STFU and wait for the damn show to come back on! Either that, or dont watch at all. Damn. Id like to see more of Monica in the final storyline. How come there's no love for the black people? The black chic Simone got shot, DL the only black man who was a sterotype got shot everytime he came on screen, and now they're doing away with Monica who has a cool power. I pray this season is at least entertaining. Season 2 was flat-out garbage.

Coming from a person who had to sit through the travesty that was the season 3 premier, i can 100 percent, without any reservations, confirm that it was a steaming pile of monkey shit. every aspect about it was just horrendous; the acting, dialogue, even the cinematography and direction was sub-par. something that kring doesnt have...it was fuller who pushed the issue to have the trek tie-in and made sure that takeii had an important role...wanna tell me the point of having nichelle nichols on the show was? she had what...2 minutes of screen time total? everything that was good about season one is all fuller...he leaves and the magic left too...so kring goes back with his original ideas...lets make the show socially relevent...lets make weak ass commentary on nola and illegal immigration...i dont care if the characters i introduce are doofy, i wanna make these commentaries...season 2 had no point...it meandered all over the place...kring has surrounded himself with a writing staff that are indebted to him for their livelihood....thereby making sure that there isnt anyone who will say...no, you cant do this...and this is why i dont hold out much hope for season 3...maybe the kids will get wood from watching a few cgi enhanced fights, but this show couldve been so much more...i almost guarantee that this will be the final season of heroes

Okay, that much I can agree. If anyone saw the heroes original pilot, it was pretty bad. I saw part of the Season 3 premiere, and it was really lame how Suresh Mohinder SUDDENLY understood the whole concept of the genetic mutation of the meta-humans so easily just like that after Maya did the black oil eyes thing. Yet he wasted like what, 2 seasons trying to figure that shit out, and experimenting on other "mutants." Lame plot hole. Things happening too fast. Can't they find a decent balance? Don't move too slow, and obviously you should move too fast. But i guess thats tolerable for the Season Premiere. We just have to give it a chance. Cant be worse than Season 2

The two are a classic combo - you have the brain and the brawn, the tech guy and the action girl. At the very least, it's good to see at least TWO of the heroes on the show actually cooperating to do super shit. There are too many solo acts on HEROES.

I remain cautiously optimistic about where this season will go. It's interesting to read a complaint that the show is moving too fast now. You know, I think I am more amenable to that flaw, because one of my big complaints about much of the previous seasons is that they spent far too much time on the origins and not nearly enough on actual heroics. Give us some action for a change.

And Linderman - I know I hate the "come back to life for free" card getting played all the time on this show, but that's a character I actually WANT to see more of.

Still no idea why Nikkijessica remains on the show. She is like a high concept gone awry and not properly implemented, and she is the obvious "one of these things is not like the other" that should get dropped to focus the show.
